Lending in Brazil

Main Page

The intermediation of loans is a private business of financial bodies in the meaning laid down by the legislation that constitutes the SFN. As per the legislation, each body that collects funds from third parties with a view to provide loans or intermediate transactions related to this sphere is to be legalized and authorized to hold activities as a financial body as per the Brazilian legislation and is to be supervised and regulated by BACEN. There was released BACEN Resolution No. 4,656/2018 in April 2018, which identified two separate types of financial institutions: companies that arrange loans between people (SEPs), which are digital facilities aimed at building up interaction between creditors and debtors, and direct credit bodies (SCDs), which are digital facilities aimed at providing loans using their own funds.1
